Reliving the moment the VLT legacy began.

In September 2025, the international youth football calendar saw the birth of a new gold standard: the Virgil’s Legacy Trophy.

Founded by Liverpool FC captain Virgil van Dijk, the inaugural edition brought together 16 of the world’s most prestigious U13 academies in Europe for a 2.5-day showcase of elite talent, tactical discipline, and the pure joy of the game.

Road to the Final: Liverpool FC crowned champions

The 2025 tournament culminated in a historic showdown at the Koning Willem II Stadium. After a grueling group stage and high-intensity knockout rounds, Liverpool FC faced off against Feyenoord in a final that perfectly captured the spirit of the competition.

In a display of resilience that mirrored the tournament’s founder, the Liverpool U13 squad secured a 2-1 victory, becoming the first-ever names etched onto the Virgil’s Legacy Trophy.
